Victory Brewing Unveils 'Baltic Thunder'
November 30, 2007Victory Brewing Company out of Downingtown, Pennsylvania has announced their newest beer, 'Baltic Thunder,' will hit stores in mid-October of this year. 'Baltic Thunder' is a rare Baltic Porter clocking in with an ABV of 8.5%. Developing 'Baltic Thunger' was a collaborative effort between the former owner of Heavyweight Brewing Company, Tom Baker, and Victory Brewing’s Ron Barchet and Bill Covaleski.
"We were always fans of Tom’s beers, his Baltic porter in particular. After he chose to close his brewery and his Baltic porter vanished from the shelves, we were left thirsty for that beer. So, to quench our own thirst and that of consumers, we worked with Tom and shared his notes and thoughts on the style.” said Bill Covaleski, president and brewmaster of Victory Brewing Company.
“The first brew of Baltic Thunder was magical. Tom and his original co-conspirator on the beer, Lew Bryson, even came here to Victory to assist. Then, while sharing a pint of Baltic Thunder off of the lagering tank a few weeks later with Tom, I swear the spirit of his departed Perkuno was smiling upon our accomplishment," continued Covaleski.
